A little clarity
Before your
first lesson.
A few useful details about learning with McDrive. You’re always welcome to ask Anil anything else.
ADI code of practiceHow long is a driving lesson?
Lessons are taught in two-hour blocks, giving you time to focus on developing your driving skills. Your lesson time runs from pick-up to drop-off.
How many lessons will I need?
There’s no fixed number that suits everyone. It depends on your starting point, progress and opportunities to practise. Anil will discuss your progress with you so you know what to work on next.
How will I know when I’m ready for my test?
The aim is consistent, safe and independent driving. Anil uses mock tests to help identify your strengths and any areas that need more practice, and will discuss your readiness with you.
Can I use the McDrive car for my driving test?
Please check Anil’s availability before booking your practical test. Use of the car must be agreed in advance and depends on your readiness to drive safely and independently. If more preparation is needed, Anil will discuss this with you in good time. Ask about the price for test-day car use and the pre-test drive when making arrangements. For current booking and change rules, use GOV.UK.
What should I bring to my lesson?
Please bring your provisional driving licence and put your phone on silent. You’ll also need to bring your licence to your driving test.
What if I need to cancel or rearrange?
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice. Short-notice cancellations may be charged under the lesson terms. If there’s an emergency, contact Anil directly so you can discuss the circumstances. Anil will explain cancellation charges before you book.
How much are lessons, and do you cover my area?
Contact Anil for current lesson prices and availability. McDrive is based in Aberdeen; include your postcode in your enquiry so he can check availability for your location. Sending an enquiry doesn’t book a lesson or commit you to anything.
